Google 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is an extra layer of security. When logging in, a notification (Google Prompt) will pop up on your smartphone asking, “Is this you?” Simply tap “Yes” to log in immediately—the most secure and convenient method.
What You Need
- Your smartphone (with the Gmail app installed and logged in to your @bu.ac.th account)
- A computer (or a second phone) to access the settings page
Setup Guide (4 Steps)
Step 1: Go to Settings
- Open your computer browser and go to myaccount.google.com (log in with your @bu.ac.th email).
- Click on the Security menu.
- Scroll down to 2-Step Verification and click it.
- Click Get Started (the system will ask you to re-enter your password).
Step 2: Select Google Prompt
- Your computer screen will display your registered smartphone name. Click Continue.
- Test the system: A prompt will pop up on your smartphone. Tap Yes, it’s me.
Step 3: Add a Backup Phone Number
- Enter your mobile phone number (to receive a verification code via SMS if you have no internet access).
- Enter the 6-digit code received via SMS on your computer, then click Turn On.
Step 4: Save Your “Backup Codes” (Crucial Step!)
- On the same page, scroll down to Backup codes.
- Click Get backup codes, then download or take a photo of them.
Use these codes if your phone is lost or if you are locked out of your account.
